Working under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Advisor provides strategic leadership, direction, and problem-solving solutions to meet strategic business objectives of the Medicine Hat Complex.
What you’ll do:
- Demonstrate leadership and contribute positively to the facility safety culture through active, positive participation in EHS safety programs and initiatives.
- Participate in resource planning to ensure facility staffing requirements are met in an effective and timely manner.
- Talent acquisition and on-boarding resources to support short- and long-term workforce development strategies and talent requirements.
- Facilitate positive employee relations through regular communication with plant site personnel; timely identification and resolution of employee relations issues; ensuring established employment policies are followed.
- Cultivate a “field presence” by spending time making informal visits to all work areas of the site; keeps a finger on the pulse of the operations; listens to what people are saying, uses the opportunity to transmit the company’s values face-to-face; is prepared and able to give people on-the-spot help.
- Implement talent management strategies by supporting site leaders and supervisors with direction to assist them in providing timely and accurate feedback to employees and develop individual employees to their potential.
- Act as a resource for benefits administration to plant site employees and corporate staff by responding to employee inquiries and resolving outstanding issues with benefit carriers. Co-ordinate the administration of Company Benefit Programs, such as medical coverage, Group Life and other insurances, Group Employee Retirement Savings Plan, and other Company benefits.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce or related field
- Demonstrated HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or related environment.
- Integrity, maturity, and leadership are essential. Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills are required.
- Effective team building and conflict resolution abilities are valuable assets, as is an understanding of current developments in the HR field.
- Leadership: Demonstrated knowledge, skills, abilities, and attributes to perform successfully in the key areas of People Leadership, Results Leadership, Thought Leadership & Self Leadership.
- Time Management: Identifies, establishes priorities, and executes tasks to consistently deliver results within required timelines.
- Coaching and training: Ability to empower others through active listening, collaboration, training, education, and technical advice.
- Judgment and decision-making: An understanding of your own personal knowledge and limitations when considering long and short-term decisions and recommendations.
