Job Summary:

As an Environmental Engineer, you’ll help maintain environmental standards within our organization. Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, you’ll provide technical expertise on air, water, and waste issues. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, company best practices, and permits. Collaborating with affected departments, you’ll enhance processes to validate their effectiveness. This is a safety sensitive position, and you will work onsite and belong to the EHS team.

Job Description:

You Will:

  • Environmental Monitoring: Support all aspects of environmental compliance, ensuring adherence to applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Data Management: Manage, review, and understand important environmental data for the site.
  • Resource Support: Serve as a resource to address daily environmental concerns, collaborating with affected departments to monitor compliance parameters.
  • Permit Applications and Reporting: Prepare environmental permit applications (air, water) and reports (Air Emissions Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory, Tier II Chemical Inventories, Title V Compliance).
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with the site’s Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC Plan), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), NPDES Permit, and Title V Air Permit.
  • Program Development: Develop and implement environmental compliance programs/procedures. Review existing programs for effectiveness and update.
  • Cross-Functional Representation: Represent environmental aspects in cross-functional efforts, including Process Safety Management (PSM), audits, incident investigations, and engineering projects.
  • Training and Testing: Participate in training, stack testing, and collaborate with external services to maintain compliance with environmental regulations.

You Have:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related science/engineering field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in environmental compliance, with technical and regulatory experience gained through the chemical or manufacturing industry.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of environmental regulations and pollutant abatement processes and equipment.
  • Safety Awareness: Basic understanding of general occupational safety, process safety, and hazardous materials.
  • Influence and Collaboration: Skill in influencing peers and cross-functional teams to implement policies and programs.
  • Technical Tools: Experience with electronic tools/systems, including continuous emissions monitoring systems and environmental reporting.
